Koepka Clinches Fifth LIV Golf Title in Thrilling Greenbrier Invitational Finish
Brooks Koepka has once again demonstrated his prowess on the golf course, emerging victorious at the Greenbrier Invitational. The win came after an intense play-off against Jon Rahm, which saw Koepka adding a second victory to his annual tally.
The Old White course in West Virginia provided a picturesque and challenging backdrop for the event. Koepka showcased his skill with a stellar final round, shooting a seven-under-par 63. Both golfers concluded the tournament with a score of 19-under, setting the stage for a dramatic play-off on the 18th hole.
In the decisive play-off, tension was palpable. Rahm's tee shot landed in a bunker at the back edge of the 18th hole, putting him at a disadvantage. His second shot managed to reach within 20 feet of the hole but left him with a challenging putt. Koepka, maintaining his composure, made par on the play-off hole. The pressure mounted as Rahm missed his crucial putt for par, handing Koepka the victory.
"This is probably my favourite one," Koepka remarked, basking in the triumph. The victory held additional significance as it marked his fifth title in the LIV Golf series. His previous wins include successes in Jeddah (2022 and 2023), Orlando (2023), and Singapore (2023).
Reflecting on the intense competition, Koepka acknowledged the caliber of his opponent, Jon Rahm. "It's always good when you have to battle good players," he said. "Jon is a hell of a player. For whatever reason, he has always gotten the better of me a little bit as of late. It feels nice just to get one."
The win at the Greenbrier Invitational also saw Koepka’s team, Smash, clinch the team title by three shots, adding another layer of accomplishment to an already memorable event.
